This is a remix of Mark David Teo's Auto Name Saver Script
What this script does:
- For a new document, the script will automatically saves to desktop as today's date and time (ex: "2024_02_14 103245.psd")
- For an existing document, the script will save to the same location as a new version (ex: "potato.psd" -> "potato_002.psd"). If a current versioning system already exists, the script will attempt to use the same format (ex: "dog-12.psd" -> "dog-13.psd").
Installation:
- Download the .jsx file from above
- Put the .jsx file into the Photoshop's script folder. Usually it is located at:
- Windows:
C:/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop version/Presets/Scripts/PutScriptFileHere
- MacOS:
Applications/Adobe Photoshop version/Presets/Scripts/PutScriptFileHere
- Windows:
- Restart Photoshop
To run the script:
- Once in Photoshop, click File > Script > "Save As Today's Date or Auto-Versioning"
Tips:
- You can map a keyboard shortcut to the script for quick execution. In my case, I mapped it to Ctrl+Alt+S (replacing the default "Save As Copy" command)
